An important update from our pastor:
As of 3-17-2020
Greetings Calvary Family!
Your Calvary team met this morning to pray for you and for the circumstances you are facing. We know many of you are wondering what’s going to happen this weekend at Calvary. Here is what we are asking you to do this Sunday, March 22, 2020:
- Gather in homes and have a STUDY of the Bible using your regular Sunday school literature.
- Watch the SERVICE on the livestream just like you did last week. (link)
- Make a SACRIFICE of praise, tithes and offerings at the end of the worship service, if not before. (easy tithe link)
Things must go on, and we want to be stronger when this is over than we were when it started. We are asking you to join us in complying with Romans 13:1-7 regarding what the government is asking us to do.
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, 4 for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer.5 Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. 7 Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
We will participate in STUDY, SERVICE and SACRIFICE all in different rooms at the same time as a church. It will be like being together, except different!
Remember, if you are trying to give and easy tithe is a challenge for you, there are many other ways to give. You can bring your offering by the Calvary offices, use bill pay at your bank or put a check in the mail.
We love you.
We are praying for you.
In the Southeast Texas paradigm for hurricane management, if you see your neighbor across the street trying to put his bed up on a table to keep it out of the water, you would help him. Right now, the government is telling you to shelter in place. We are telling you to serve in place. If you see a need, go meet it for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ and the blessing of His people. BE THE CHURCH wherever you are, and then let’s BE THE CHURCH together Sunday morning as we STUDY, watch the SERVICE, and SACRIFICE.
If you have any needs we can help you meet, don’t hesitate to call us at the Calvary office.
